Normally I don’t get too personal on this page, it is a professional place, right? But yesterday at a networking event, I was stunned by a potential client who said to me that when choosing a social media marketing person (there were two of us there), I was the obvious choice, NOT because I was the most experienced or promised the best results, but because my personality was warm. I was simultaneously touched and bewildered. I will need to rethink my unique selling point…And perhaps this applies to you too? Instead of trying to build a model based on cramming ourselves into ideas of industry standards and what our competition is doing, periodically ask your clients why they do business with you, specifically.
